Adapter sleeves are used for the simple and backlash free mounting of bearings with tapered bores on cylindrical shafts. They allow a secure connection without additional keyways or costly shaft machining and are therefore an economical alternative to fixed fits.
The sleeves are made of hardened, precision ground steel and are tightened axially using a locknut or clamping ring. This creates a secure and uniform press fit between the bearing and the shaft, capable of transmitting high torques and withstanding alternating loads.
